BUR is a Ukrainian NGO, focused on youth development through volunteering and non-formal education. Initially launched as a project in 2014, it has operated independently since 2021. The organization engages and develops young people in rebuilding and fostering a democratic Ukraine through volunteer rebuilding camps, educational programs, local initiatives, inclusion of vulnerable groups and social cohesion.

With its main office in Lviv, BUR also has a number of regional branches which were formed on a grassroots basis. BUR has a team counting 30 members and a network of 8,000 volunteers, mostly aged 16-35, which includes also the community of professional volunteers – camp-leaders (nearly, 100 members) that are cocreators of our volunteer activities. In recent years, during 2022-2023, BUR engaged over 3,100 youth representatives aged 16-35 all across Ukraine in 154 rebuilding camps, implemented 294 short-term volunteer camps (BURchyks) across 60+ communities, and supported mentorship and long-term volunteer programs.

Established in 2014, BUR has honed skills in disaster response and crisis management. It quickly stepped forward in a momentous way since the onset of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, to support those most in need amidst the conflict. BUR engages in robust training and mobilisation of volunteers, steering individuals and communities toward cohesive and targeted efforts to provide aid and rebuild infrastructure and communities.
