Lt. Col. Zbigniew Kruk passed away
Mr. Zbigniew Kruk - a soldier of the Home Army, a prisoner of Soviet labor camps, born in 1926, died on June 7. He had a wonderful wartime biography, which - as a warning - he willingly shared with the younger generation. He was one of the participants of two international projects implemented by the Zamojskie Centrum Wolontariatu and the HEureka Generator Association, under the joint title 'Let me tell you a story'.
Mr. Kruk, as a fourteen-year-old, joined the ZWZ-AK, accepting the pseudonym 'Witek'. He took part in many partisan actions. On November 3, 1944, he was arrested by the NKVD and sentenced to death, which was then changed to 10 years of work in Siberia. He returned to Poland on December 13, 1955. For many years he was the chairman of the Zamość Branch of Siberian Exiles Union and a member of the World Union of Home Army Soldiers, Zamość District. He described his experiences in the book, published in 2010, 'From the Home Army to Siberia'.
We invite you to familiarize yourself with his living history lesson. It was published in the book ‘Let me tell you a story - Whisper of exile’, which we have prepared together with young people from six countries. Material available in Polish and English.
We express give condolences to the family.
Honor his memory.
